Transportation & Parking
Metro & Bus Transportation
Vehicles for general transportation are not necessary. The Washington metropolitan area has an excellent subway system called the Metro. Catholic University is three short Metro stops away from the National Building Museum. Each registered participant will receive a $5 Metro pass. Use of the Metro will be demonstrated during Orientation on Thursday, June 17, 2004, immediately after registration.
Shuttle buses will be provided for the Friday Dinner at ASCE Headquarters and the races, both of which will take place in Reston, VA. In order to take the shuttle bus, you must register in advance for a seat. Please see Section IV of Registration Form - Part A to reserve seats.
Parking
Each team will receive one complimentary parking space large enough for a 28' truck in the Pangborn Parking Lot at Catholic University. Due to security reasons and limited parking availability, trucks/trailers must return to Catholic University once canoes have been unloaded at the National Building Museum on Friday, June 18, 2004.
If you choose to bring a passenger vehicle, note that parking throughout downtown Washington is extremely limited and costly. Metered parking is scarce and parking lots are often full due to monthly parking pass holders, even on weekends. Parking tickets for expired meters and illegally parked vehicles range from $50 to $300/ticket. Additional parking for passenger vehicles will be available on campus at Catholic University.
