Codes and Standards Awards

5.1 Awards
    CSC and the Standards Councils shall provide for awards of service and other outstanding contributions to the ASCE Codes & Standards Program. Nominations for Society awards shall be submitted in accordance with the procedures established by the Society Awards Committee available from the staff of the ASCE Honors and Awards Department. The following list provides details of Awards and Recognitions.

    A. ASCE Codes and Standards Committee (CSC) Past Chair Award
    Give to Past CSC Chair
    When Just before or immediately after expiration of term
    Where At the annual meeting of an Institute or at the ASCE Annual Conference
    Selection CSC Awards Subcommittee and ASCE Standards Director
    Award Framed certificate or equivalent


    B. ASCE Codes and Standards Committee (CSC) Merit Award
    Give to Technical committee chairs who served as advisors and/or actively supported the ASCE Standards Program
    When As needed
    Where At a venue appropriate to the Technical Committee Chair
    Selection CSC Awards Subcommittee and ASCE Standards Director
    Award Framed certificate or equivalent


    C. Standards Council or Division Executive Committee (CEC) Chair Award
    Give to Council or Division Executive Committee Chairs
    When At the expiration of the term
    Where At the Institute's annual conference or section meeting
    Selection Institute's or BOD level Committee staff and its awards committee have the responsibility for this award
    Award Framed certificate or equivalent


    D. Standards Council or Division Standards Committee (CEC) Merit Award
    Give to Any standards committee, subcommittee, or task committee member who has demonstrated exemplary work leading to the publication of an ASCE/Institute standard; more than one award may be granted if additional chair(s) were instrumental in the standard's development
    When At a reasonable time after the standard has been submitted for publication or has been actually published
    Where At a scheduled meeting of the Institute or other appropriate event
    Selection The Council or the Division Executive Committee shall determine and qualify candidates for awards based the extent and value of services rendered
    Award Unframed certificate presented in a folder
5.2 Recognitions
    A. ASCE Codes and Standards Committee (CSC) Former Member Recognition
    Give to Members appointed to serve on ASCE CSC
    When Immediately before or after term expires
    Where Typically presented at the annual conference of the member's Institute or ASCE Section meeting
    Selection CSC Awards Committee and ASCE Standards Director
    Award Framed certificate or equivalent


    B. Standards Council or Division Executive Committee (CEC) Member Recognition
    Give to Council or Division Executive Committee member
    When Immediately before or after term expires
    Where At a scheduled meeting of the Institute or BOD level Committee deemed appropriate for the recipient
    Selection Institute's or BOD level Committee staff and its awards committee have responsibility for this recognition and shall determine and qualify candidates based the value of services rendered
    Award Unframed certificate presented in a folder


    C. Standards Council or Division Standards Committee (IS) Chair Recognition
    Give to Chair of a Standards Committee
    When At a reasonable time after the work of the Chair and the Standards Committee results in a published ASCE/Institute standard; more than one certificate may be granted if additional chair(s) were instrumental in the standard's development
    Where At a scheduled meeting of the Institute deemed appropriate for the recipient.
    Selection The Institute's staff and its Standards Council or Division Executive Committee shall determine and qualify candidates based on the value of services rendered
    Award Framed certificate or equivalent
