Diversity Champion Award
The Diversity Champion Award recognizes an individual known within the engineering community as a proponent of diversity awareness. The individual will have contributed significant amount of time and energy endorsing the benefits of a diverse workforce within the professional community and at the Section and Branch level. Each zone can nominate an unlimited number of candidates for this award, which will be given to an engineer within each of the four zones. International sections may also submit nominations. The applications will be evaluated by the Committee on Diversity and Women in Civil Engineering. The selection process for this award will take place prior to the Zone Leadership Conferences. Award recipients will receive notification prior to their annual ZLC. Candidates must be members of ASCE.CRITERIA
AWARD NOMINATIONS MUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS IN 500 WORDS OR LESS:
- What specific activities during the past year did the nominee develop or participate in to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the civil engineering profession or to increase awareness of diversity issues?
- How did these activities address ASCE's policy of encouraging equitable opportunity for all people to participate in the civil engineering profession?
- How many ASCE members participated in the activity?
- How many non-ASCE members participated in the activity?
- What was the impact of the activity?
Submission Requirements
- Nomination forms can be downloaded as an Adobe PDF document. Nominations may be made by a Section or Branch, a standing ASCE committee or an individual ASCE member. Documentation of the individual's contributions and its positive impacts must accompany the nomination form.
- Four copies of the nomination package, including the nomination form and supporting information must be received at ASCE headquarters no later than Oct. 1.
