	Peer Review for Public Agencies Starting the Peer Review Process Requesting a Peer Review Any director of a public agency may request a peer review by writing, calling, or emailing the ASCE Professional Practice Department Manager at: American Society of Civil Engineers Alicia Karwoski, P.E., M.ASCE Manager, Professional Practice Peer Review Program 1801 Alexander Bell Drive Reston, VA 20191 Email: akarwoski@asce.org Phone: 800-548-2723 ext. 6324, or 703-295-6324 Requests must come from the director of the agency or portion of the agency to be reviewed. Requests from parent or other agencies for a review of another agency will not be considered. After speaking with ASCE, the director will be asked to complete and submit the peer review request form below. Peer Review Request Form Process Outline It takes approximately three to four months between the time a peer review is requested and the time the on-site peer review takes place. The list below highlights the major steps of the peer review process. Agency director requests a peer review. ASCE forms peer review team. Agency reviews peer reviewer bios and accepts team. Date of peer review finalized. Each peer reviewer signs a statement of nondisclosure. Agency mails peer reviewers advance materials describing organizational structure, policies, procedures, etc.. The peer review team leader coordinates interviews, site visits, and logistics with the agency. On-site peer review conducted. The peer review team provides oral report to the agency director at conclusion of the on-site visit. The peer review team submits a written report to the agency director (upon request).
