Dr. Martin's first design assignment while in the Air Force was a small bridge across a creek at the base golf course. From this small beginning a great love of bridges began. Upon leaving the Air Force, he went to work for Modjeski and Masters where his career has involved the design of bridges comprised of all materials, of short and long span lengths, both fixed and moveable. He began his career with Modjeski and Masters as a design engineer, then moved more into project management as an Associate and Senior Associate. He was made a Vice President in the firm in 2000 and then President in 2007. He is a recognized expert in the inspection and evaluation of parallel wire cables for suspension bridges and has inspected and evaluated five suspension bridges in the last five years.
