C. Jerry Wong received a Civil Engineering degree from Taipei Institute of Technology in 1971, and his MSCE and Ph.D. degrees from University of Cincinnati in 1978 and 1984, majoring in Structural Engineering.
Professionally, after serving in the Corps of Engineers for two years, Dr. Wong has worked as a structural design engineer in the bridge, building, telecommunication, and high-voltage electrical transmission industries. He has also been involved with several disaster recovery, storm restoration, and failure investigation efforts. Many of his projects have won industry awards and special recognitions.
Dr. Wong has been active in the SEI Technical Activities Division for the past 20 years, functioning as chairman or member in administrative, conference steering, and several technical committees, or “blue-ribbon” panels. He is also a member of the American National Standard Institute C2 committee (National Electrical Safety Code). Over the years, Dr. Wong has served as director and advisor of several research institutes and has also held part-time teaching positions.
Dr. Wong is the recipient of the 2004 ASCE Gene Wilhoite Innovations in Transmission Line Engineering Award for his significant contributions to the advancement of the art and science of Transmission Line Engineering.
Dr. Wong is a licensed Professional Engineer registered in the State of Florida.
