Ms. Smith has Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Science degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University. She also holds a Master’s Certificate in Educational Facilities Planning from San Diego State University and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI). She is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland.
She is currently employed at Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson (JMT) in Sparks, MD, where she is a Senior Associate and Project Manager in the Educational Facilities Department. Ms. Smith specializes in the design of educational facilities, and is also a Recognized Educational Facility Planner (REFP).
Ms. Smith is a charter member of the Maryland Chapter of SEI and had been active with SEI-MD for several years. She has held the positions of Vice-President, President, and, currently, Past-President of SEI-MD. Ms. Smith was selected as the Maryland ASCE Section Young Engineer of the Year in 2010. She is currently serving as the Chair of the SEI Local Activities Division Executive Committee. Ms. Smith has been a member of ASCE and SEI for 14 years.
Ms. Smith is also a mentor for high school students through the Architects, Constructors, Engineers (ACE) mentoring program, which she has participated in for five years.
