Mr. Northey has enjoyed a lengthy career in structural engineering. He has held responsible charge for planning, design, rating, or inspection of hundreds of bridges, port facilities and failure investigations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona. He has been fortunate to collaborate with leading engineers both nationally and internationally on demanding projects. Innovative design and research work has supported his prudent and effective expenditure of significant public wealth. Mr. Northey takes pride in his profession of structural engineering and looks back on a long list of projects that have helped make the world a better place. He has worked for many years to enhance communications between structural engineers, civil engineers, and many other engineering specialties. This has led to public information efforts that have educated the media and the public about engineers, their work and accomplishments, and the importance of engineers to the functioning of society.
