Jennifer Goupil, P.E., is currently the director of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE, formerly the editor of Structural Engineering & Design magazine and Structural Engineer magazine. Prior to joining the magazine in 2002, she worked as a structural engineer and project manager for eight years at structural consulting firms Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire in Seattle; Jirsa + Hedrick & Associates in Denver; and Skidmore Owings & Merrill in Chicago. She has designed buildings in all material types primarily in the commercial market sector including office, retail, hotel, and condominium projects.
She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and SEI; while she was a member of the ASCE/SEI Sustainable Committee, was an editor of the Structural Engineers Guidelines for Sustainability. She is a member of the Structural Engineer’s Association of Washington (SEAW). She received the 2006 President’s Award from SEAW for her contribution to the Seattle chapter.
Jennifer earned her master’s degree in civil engineering at Cornell University in 1994 and her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech in 1992. She is licensed as a P.E. in the state of Colorado.
