Jim DeStefano is the President of the structural engineering firm of DeStefano & Chamberlain, Inc. located in Fairfield, CT. Jim served as the President of the Connecticut Structural Engineers Coalition from 1994 to 1997. He has also served as a director of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA). Jim has been active in the Council of American Structural Engineers (CASE). Jim chaired the CASE Fire Protection Committee and the CASE Special Inspections Committee. Jim has served on the NCSEA Code Advisory Committee. He serves on the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Flood Resistant Design Committee (ASCE/SEI 24) and previously served on the SEI Sustainability Committee. Jim is a founder and past chairman of the Timber Frame Engineering Council (TFEC). He is a director of the Timber Frame Business Council (TFBC). Jim is a member of the American Wood Council (AWC) Timber Frame Design Standard Task Committee. Jim is the past-chairman of the Structure magazine Editorial Board. He was awarded the Engineering Excellence Award from ACEC-Connecticut in 1996 and again in 2008. Jim is a Registered Professional Engineer, Structural Engineer, a SECB board certified Structural Engineer and a licensed Architect.
