Dr. Yazdani is a Professor and Former Chairman of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is well known for his research on hazard mitigation of structures, bridge design/rehabilitation and structural evaluation. He has received many awards for his teaching and research abilities and has secured more than $9 million from research projects. Dr. Yazdani served on the editorial board of the ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering, NCHRP panels and Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection. He received the 2005 Davis Productivity Award from the State of Florida. A Fellow of ASCE and ACI, and a registered professional engineer, Dr. Yazdani is the author of more than 150 articles, and an invited speaker at conferences. He has been very active in national societies such as SEI, ASCE, ACI and TRB. He is the current Chair of the SEI Ft. Worth Chapter, a past president of the ASCE Tallahassee Branch, and the current Chairman of ACI-SEI Committee on Concrete Bridge Design. A leader in engineering education, he is an ABET Program Evaluator, and has chaired several committees dealing with graduate, curriculum and fundraising activities. Dr. Yazdani is also an active consultant to several government and private entities.
