Dr. Vickery has worked in the field of hurricane hazard modeling, coastal flood modeling, risk assessment and wind induced damage modeling for over twenty years. His work in hurricane hazard modeling has been incorporated into the ASCE 7 Wind Loading Standard since 1998. The hurricane wind speed contours developed for the Caribbean are used in conjunction with the wind load provisions of ASCE 7 by engineers in the Caribbean. Dr. Vickery was responsible for the wind hazard and building damage functions used in FEMA's Hazus model.
