Ronald F. "Rawn" Nelson is a registered Civil/Structural engineer in the states of California, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Mr. Nelson received his degree in Architectural Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, in 1967.
Mr. Nelson has over forty years of extensive experience in structural design, analysis and evaluation of single and multi-family residential, office, industrial buildings, public, and institutional facilities, shopping centers, parking garages, and many other various types of low-rise and multi-story structures of masonry, concrete, steel and timber construction, including retrofit for seismic or code compliance criteria, and product development and approvals.
Mr. Nelson has been involved in local, state, national and international professional structural engineering organizations for over twenty years, as president, board member, committee chair and member. SEI involvement includes: ASCE, SEI Formation Task Force (94-96); SEI Board of Governors (97-98, 04-08); Business and Professional Activities Division (BPAD) Executive Committee (97-12), chair (03-08); Public Relations Committee Chair (98-03); Structures Congress Committee (02-08); Structures Congress Steering Committee: Denver (02), Seattle (03), Long Beach (07); SEI Liaison to NCSEA Board (04-07), SEI Representative STRUCTURE Magazine editorial Board (01-04); SEI endowment Committee Chair (08-10); and recipient of the SEI - Dennis L.
