Sashi Kunnath is Professor and Chair of the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California at Davis. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Bangalore University, India, his Master’s degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and his PhD from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. Prof Kunnath was lead author and co-developer of the IDARC (Versions 1 – 3) and IDARC2 computer programs and has authored or co-authored over 150 technical papers on numerous subjects related to structural dynamics and earthquake engineering and has delivered invited lectures in China, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Slovenia and Thailand. Prof. Kunnath has received funding for his research from numerous state and federal agencies. Prof Kunnath served as Editor for the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering from 2003 - 2010. He formerly chaired the ASCE Committee on Seismic Effects, and is chair of the Dynamics TAC. A Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers, Prof. Kunnath has been honored with the 2001 ACI Structural Research Award, the 2008 ASCE Raymond Reese Research Prize, the 2009 ASCE Richard Torrens Award and the 2012 ASCE Norman Medal.
