Stan Caldwell decided on a career in structural engineering as a high school senior. He received a BSCE in 1970 and a MSCE in 1971, both from UW-Madison. He is currently a licensed professional engineer in six states and is certified in the practice of structural engineering with SECB.
Stan is a Vice President and Manager of the Structures Group at Halff Associates, a multi-discipline firm in Texas. Prior to joining Halff in 1988, Stan was the President of Intrex Associates, a structural design firm in Dallas. He was also previously employed as a Regional Manager with the structural analysis firm of Keith, Feibusch Associates, Engineers, and as a Project Manager with Atlantic Richfield Company.
Stan's professional experience spans more than 800 projects, including: commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings; road and highway bridges; hydraulic structures; and offshore and arctic oil production facilities. He has also provided expert testimony in construction litigation, has authored several technical articles and other publications, and has made a number of invited presentations.
Stan's volunteer service has included numerous leadership positions in ASCE, SEI, AEI, BSC, SECB, SEAoT, NCSEA, ACEC/TX, TBPE, and Visiting Committees at UW-Madison and UT-Tyler. Currently, he is serving on the SEI Board of Governors, the SECB Board of Directors, and the ASCE Strategic Planning Committee. In 2011, SEAoT selected him as the recipient of its prestigious Wilbur C. Schoeller Memorial Award "in recognition of specific achievement or attainment of noteworthy prominence in the structural engineering profession."
