TCLEE Earthquake Investigation Committee

Earthquake Investigation Committee

Purpose: The purpose of the Earthquake Investigation Committee (EIC) is to initiate, organize, train for and coordinate post-earthquake investigations in areas of interest to the Technical Council on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering; to develop post-earthquake investigation guidelines for use in such investigations; to organize a team of individuals for immediate response to post-earthquake investigations; to prepare post-earthquake investigation reports.

2012 ANNUAL COMMITTEE MEETING:
The Investigation Committee held its year 2012 meeting June 8 - 9, 2012 in and around Sacramento, CA.  On June 8th, the John Andrew from the California Department of Water Resources organized a program of presentations and site investigations of levee improvements around the Sacramento Delta.  Presentations on various aspects of the levee priorities, funding and seismic consideration were presented (see links below).  The committee then visited to levee repair sites and the Sacramento River weir that diverts flood waters away from the City to the Yolo Bypass.   In the afternoon the committee had their annual business and training meeting at the State DWR building.

On June 9th we had field trips to the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Freeport Raw Water Intake on the Sacramento River.  These facilities are essential components of the areas reclaimed water and redundant fresh water supply sources.  The Freeport Intake improved the levee system along with improving the levee system in the "Pocket" area of Sacramento along the Sacramento River Delta.
