I look forward to the opportunity to continue my service to ASCE as a Region 5 Governor. I have enjoyed my ASCE participation over the years, from my time in the Student Chapter at Cornell University, through my time as a young engineer in New York's Metropolitan Section, continuing through my leadership roles in the Miami-Dade Branch and the Florida Section.
I believe that geographical regions serve a vital role in ASCE's governance structure. As a Governor, I hope to serve as a key link between the Florida Section and the Society's Board of Directors. I will get a sense of the issues and concerns of our members, and will convey that information to our Region 5 Director for her to pass along to the Board of Directors. Similarly, I will serve as a conduit for information in the other direction, keeping our Section and Branch members apprised about what is happening throughout the Region and at the national level. I also hope to transmit what I have learned over the years to emerging leaders at the President and Governors Forums as well as the multi-region Leadership Conferences.
