JAMES T. FROST, P.E., M.ASCE

REGION 9 GOVERNOR OFFICIAL NOMINEE

Vision Statement

Our region and country will make some critical decisions over the next few years regarding our aging infrastructure. Will we make a commitment to build and maintain an infrastructure that is a source of national strength or will we continue to ignore the problem and further jeopardize our future? As an ASCE Region 9 Governor, I will use the leverage gained by prior ASCE efforts to help lead policy-makers and the general public in effective and timely decisions.

While my primary focus is on infrastructure, the other two ASCE strategic initiatives will play an integral role. We as engineers need to step forward as informed leaders with appropriate education and licensure. One of the underlying principles in "Raising the Bar" is to build trust and credibility for the engineering profession through appropriate technical, leadership, and communications skills. We also need to embrace "Sustainability" with all of our infrastructure management for long-term solutions and enhanced quality of life.

I look forward to serving in the Governor position and to mobilizing my 24 years of professional experience and 11 years with the San Diego Section. This will be a new challenge for me but one that brings opportunity for growth in my career.
