Design of Wood Beams and Joists
An Estimated 80-90 percent of all buildings in the United States are framed with wood, and yet the subject is not taught in many engineering schools. This web seminar fills the gap by providing a concise and practical overview of the design procedures for wood joists, rafters, and beams.  The discussion focuses on the joists of sawn lumber and the beams of engineered lumber.  The discussion also addresses the code provisions related to the design of flexural members, including those of National Design Specification® for Wood Construction by American Forest & Paper Association, which forms the basis for the wood design provisions in the International Building Code and other authoritative publications. Five step-by-step design examples illustrate practical designs of dimensional-lumber joists, swan-lumber beams, laminated-veneer lumber beams, and glued-laminated beams.   The seminar is co-sponsored by ASCE's Structural Engineering Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.

This seminar will take place at 12 Noon to 1:30 PM Eastern Time, per the date(s) listed. $299M/$349NM Per Seminar Site.
