Wind and Seismic Retrofit of Buildings: The Basics
Many renovation projects aim to strengthen buildings to resist lateral loads- hurricanes and earthquakes. There are plenty of code-related and research publications dealing with theoretical approaches to seismic upgrade, but not many of them discuss wind retrofit. Even fewer approach the subject on a practical, easy-to-understand level. In contrast, this seminar presents an overview of proven yet economical strategies and techniques for evaluation and strengthening buildings to resist both types of lateral loads. The seminar is co-sponsored by ASCE's Structural Engineering Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.
