The Modern Roundabout As A Traffic Signal Alternative, Part I & II - Complete Series
This two-part webinar series will focus on the best practices for designing roundabouts that maximize the safety of all road users. Lessons learned from the results of recent research conducted in Europe will be shared with participants as well as the best sources of information about roundabouts. Examples will be shown of recent roundabout installations in Europe as well as the U.S.A. The concept of turbo roundabouts, which maximize capacity using multiple lanes around the center island, while minimizing conflict points through a unique design approach, will be discussed. Recent FHWA rulings on how roundabouts should be signed will be covered. The seminar is co-sponsored by ASCE's Transportation & Development Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.
Part I of this seminar will take place on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 12 Noon - 1:30pm Eastern Time AND Part II of the series will take place on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 12 Noon- 1:30 PM.
