On-Site Circulation and Access Design for Commercial Developments ~Part II
This seminar provides hands-on training for engineers and planners on how to effectively and accesses serving new and existing office, commercial taking into consideration the needs of all road users (motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists). Necessary tools and good practices for providing good access to a variety of development projects, from the perspectives of both the agency and the developer proposing the project, are covered. Part 2 will focus on access design issues such as throat lengths/widths, sight distance, speed change lanes and warrants. The best sources of additional information on each topic identified. Numerous examples are provided illustrating both well designed and poorly designed driveways. Impacts to the operation of the street from which access is being taken are discussed. The seminar is co-sponsored by ASCE's Transportation & Development Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.
