Design of Brick Veneer Systems*Rescheduled from May 8*
This webinar clearly explains the differences between the various types of multiple-layer and veneer systems. A major part of the seminar is devoted to specific and proven design details for brick veneer walls made with steel-stud and concrete-block backup. The instructor offers clear and practical guidance on such diverse topics as stiffness requirements for steel studs, flashing and weep-hole details, and anchor construction and spacing. The recommended locations and spacing of control and expansion joints in brick and concrete masonry are also examined. A discussion of lintel design for large masonry openings, where both architectural and structural requirements must be satisfied, follows. The seminar is co-sponsored by ASCE's Structural Engineering Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.
