Elected Region 8 Governor

Vision statement

To approach any ASCE opportunity or challenge, I use a three-point mantra:

  • We are here to serve others,
  • Service should be fun,
  • Serving is more fun with friends.

Volunteering time and resources to serve ASCE members fulfills a sense of duty to give back to an organization and profession that has given much to me. These opportunities include guiding the future of the profession through leadership and committee involvement, as well as service to local communities. Fun through service has helped me form bonds of friendship and mentorship that extend well beyond a professional organization or term of service. I’ve made lifelong friendships through spending focused time with people who, like me, care deeply about advancing the civil engineering profession. Bringing friends, colleagues, mentees, and students into such a rewarding organization not only facilitates personal and organizational growth, but it also provides opportunities for potential members to experience the same benefits that I have enjoyed.

This mantra serves as a foundation to guide me through all opportunities and challenges within ASCE, to serve in my elected and appointed offices with dignity and integrity, and to ultimately to help ASCE accomplish its goals and mission.
