Elected Region 1 Governor

Portrait of Shahin Ariaey-Nejad

Vision statement

As an ASCE Region 1 Governor, I will do my best to represent and connect the various sections and branches in a collaborative and inclusive spirit. I will be a conduit to further the mission of ASCE and civil engineering in general. I intend to reach out to the less active chapters within our Region to engage them and encourage more active participation. I intend to provide mentorship for up-and-coming leaders as well as encouraging recently graduated engineers to join ASCE which has been one of the foundational cornerstones of my career. Furthermore, I intend to use my past experiences with respect to volunteerism to foster a sense of giving back to the community and “paying it forward”. In performing my duties as a Region 1 Governor, I will endeavor to respect differences between individuals and/or entities. My metric for success will be to increase ASCE activities, membership and engagement across the Region from current levels.
