Thursday, January 7, 2016
From our humble roots building the City of Chicago water intake in Lake Michigan, the Michigan Avenue Bridge, to building most of the shoreline in downtown Chicago,
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock (GLDD)
finds itself today as a publicly traded company, and the largest dredging company in the US.
GLDD also has international operations and environmental restoration subsidiaries.
Major operations include deepening of every major port in the US and worldwide work, including:
- Miami Harbor and current deepenings in New York and Savannah
- Louisiana Coastal restoration
- Post-Sandy recovery
- Projects throughout the Middle East, Latin America, and Australia
GLDD is building towards a future with world class personnel and equipment. Our staff of world class engineers help bring our projects to completion on time!
We are proud to be building the largest hopper dredge (15,000 cy) in the US. The Ellis Island and her companion tug, the DB Mackie will be on line as of the 4th quarter 2016.
Giving Back to the Profession
GLDD is also proud to be a long supporter of COPRI and ASCE initiatives that focus attention on the need for the nation's engineers to be engaged in their respective professions and communities that benefit from the life and society changing solutions engineers provide to them.
