In partnership with Volumetric Building Companies and The Pennsylvania State University, AEI is pleased to announce the 2024 Forum: Integrated Building Solutions | Imaging Modular scheduled for April 8–10, 2024 in San Jose, California.
The first documented modular or prefabricated home was created by London-based architect John Manning in 1837. For over a century, technological innovation has been the driving force behind the advancement of the modular design, manufacturing, and construction of prefabricated buildings. As the A|E|C industry continues to reevaluate our current standards of practice for designing, constructing, and operating buildings to reduce building-related carbon emissions, modular building is leading the way. Modular techniques can lower a project's overall environmental impact through emissions and waste reductions, material reusability, and increased energy efficiency. MEP modular installations play a significant role and contribute to shortened lead times, improved on-site safety, and reduced project time and costs. It is predicted that by 2050 buildings will be largely modular, leading to faster production with less waste, and providing solutions to a changing real estate market.
