Hossein Ataei is a civil engineering faculty member and the Director of the Construction Engineering and Management Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a registered P.E. in the US (States of Nevada, Texas, and Wyoming) and in Canada (Provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec). Dr. Ataei's industry experience for large EPC firms is in project management and business administration (from the contractors' side) and the design and risk advisory consulting services (from the owners' side) on large-scale heavy civil engineering projects, and mainly in the mining and power sectors.
Dr. Ataei is an ASCE Fellow. He serves on the national ASCE committees of Forensic Engineering Education, and on the CI's Claims Avoidance and Resolution (CAR), and the Construction Research Council (CRC). He is an ABET Program Evaluator for the accreditation of the civil and construction engineering higher education programs in the US and abroad. His academic and professional interests are in construction engineering and management best practices particularly facing the grand challenges on the our complex and interconnected civil engineering systems, as well as using innovation, technology and holistic problem-solving to advance the next generation of the civil infrastructure.
