Younger Member Fly-In Program

Mar 11-12, 2020

Please note:The 2020 Younger Member Fly-In (March 11-12, 2020) has been canceled. See below for more information.

After actively monitoring developments over the weekend related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, since then we have received an increasing number of cancellations for Hill visits as Congress focuses its attention on the evolving situation and considers instituting a work-from-home policy. Given this uncertainty that Hill meetings will proceed later in the week, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Legislative Fly-In.

These are unfortunate circumstances that are beyond our control, and we do not want to bring our ASCE members to Washington, DC if there is a high likelihood that the Fly-In meetings cannot proceed on Thursday. We will refund registration fees paid for the Fly-In and would encourage you to work with the airlines and the hotel to let them know you have cancelled your travel plans. If you have incurred cancellation fees associated with travelling to Washington, D.C. for this event, please reach out to us at youngermember@asce.org.

To those who had registered to take part in the Fly-In, it is our hope to give you preference in our application process for our 2021 event, when ASCE will launch the 2021 Report Card for America's Infrastructure.

It's an election year and infrastructure investment is a part of the national conversation like never before. Therefore, we still urge participants to engage with their legislators and their staff this week. If you were meant to attend the Fly-In, we will send a follow-up email with more details on how to send the Fly-In materials to Congressional offices where you had scheduled meetings, and to offer a phone call or in-district visit in place of the meeting this week.

In the meantime, ASCE urges all members to participate in the Day of Action, a unique opportunity for ASCE members to contact their Senators and Representative with one voice about the importance of infrastructure investment. We have set the goal of sending a minimum of 3,000 emails to Congress this week and encourage you to add your voice to this effort.

We appreciate your understanding in this difficult decision.

ASCE younger members selected to attend the ASCE Legislative Fly-In on Capitol Hill are invited to participate in a one-day, special orientation program before the start of the Fly-In.
