Engineers must meet one of the following requirements to qualify for Associate Member. 
Engineers who hold at least a 4 year degree in a civil or related engineering program OR are a certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Surveyor-in-Training (SIT).

Dues for new or reinstated members are prorated depending on when the application is received.

In addition, many international members receive discounts on both the post-graduation sliding scale, and regular membership rates.

Applicants for the Associate member grade must meet 1 of the requirements below:

if you have this degree

then you need these credentials

You have a bachelor's degree OR graduate degree from a school which has an ABET/EAC accredited, ABET/ETAC accredited, or substantially equivalent civil engineering or related engineering program

or

then you need these credentials

  • A copy of Bachelor's or graduate degree from an ABET/EAC accredited, ABET/ETAC accredited, or equivalent program
or

if you have this degree

Bachelor's degree from a non-ABET/EAC or non-ABET/ETAC accredited 4 (or more) year curriculum in engineering, engineering technology, or related science acceptable to the Membership Application Review Committee (MARC)

or

then you need these credentials

  • A copy of your Engineer Intern (E.I.), Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.), or Land Surveyor-In-Training (L.S.I.T.) certification OR if certification is not available in the country in which you reside, provide 3 references; 

  • Engineering technologists or related scientists can submit a copy of their resume/CV, diploma, and 3 references for consideration by the Membership Application Review Committee (MARC)
or

You are a U.S. licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.)

or

then you need these credentials

  • Your state of licensure, license number, and expiration date or a copy of your license ID card
or

if you have this degree

Current member in an equivalent grade of an engineering society with which ASCE has a current reciprocal membership agreement 

then you need these credentials

  • Your current membership card in the engineering society. (Your card must show your current grade of membership)
