SEI Annual Report 2019: Advancing the Vision for the Future of Structural Engineering
The SEI Board of Governors is laser-focused on moving our profession forward through the Vision for the Future of Structural Engineering. The launch of the Vision was in 2013, so we decided in the past year to take stock of our progress toward goals. SEI has achieved much in
performance-based design, globalization, and collaboration with other organizations. In 2019 we produced an update of the SEI Vision, refreshing the original goals and adding two new ones on diversity and resilience. We also joined with NCSEA and CASE to endorse a joint future vision for structural engineering.
I am amazed and inspired by the volunteerism in SEI divisions, committees, and local chapters. A big thank you to those who contribute so much. I also want to acknowledge the tremendous dedication of SEI staff and leadership. I hope you will be as impressed as I am with the activities and accomplishments summarized in this report, but there is so much more important work to be done. If you are not currently participating in an SEI effort, I strongly encourage you to get involved. I invite you to join me; you will find it a very rewarding experience.
