SEI Student Scholarship to Structures Congress
The goal of this program is to assist SEI student members to develop and expand their professional opportunities and careers. The scholarship is brought to you by the SEI Student Initiatives Committee and the
SEI Futures Fund.
The scholarship provides complimentary Structures Congress student registration and travel assistance for student members (undergraduate or graduate) to attend and actively participate in Structures Congress.
Travel assistance consists of economy airfare with 14-day advance purchase within the US, and $135 per night for up to four nights participation at
Structures Congress. Please note this is not full cost reimbursement. Travel funding is reimbursable to recipients following the conference with completion of the scholarship requirements below.
Eligibility
Student applicant must be:
- Full time SEI student member - undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a Civil Engineering or similar program
- First-time attendee at Structures Congress
Applications are evaluated on four primary areas:
- short-term career goals
- long-term career goals
- research and/or internships
- volunteer work and/or professional organization participation
- GPA or stated need of support are used by committee when scores are close
Scholarship Requirements
To ensure active participation in Structures Congress, scholarship recipients are required to:
- Participate in a brief welcome orientation (conference call scheduled prior to Structures Congress on site at conference).
- Attend two committee meetings (one of which should be the Student Initiatives Committee). Note that all committee meetings will take place on Sunday.
- Attend the Meet the Leaders event Monday.
- Participate in the full conference (Sunday committee meetings thru Wednesday closing).
- Submit a one page narrative providing feedback on the experience.
Up to forty student scholarships to Structures Congress are available for 2021, through the generous support of the SEI Futures Fund and donors.
