TMDL Analysis and Modeling Task Committee

Purpose: The purpose of the TMDL Analysis and Modeling Task Committee is to address concerns over the current practices of analysis and modeling in Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) development and implementation in terms of model selection, data requirements, calibration, validation and uncertainty reporting. As a first step, the committee reviewed the current practices of analysis and modeling in TMDLs and documented in an ASCE/EWRI report. Currently, the Task Committee is reviewing advances in watershed and receiving water quality analysis and modeling to produce a collection of papers for peer review and to publish in an ASCE journal. The Task Committee is also developing guidelines of the best practices that are helpful for practitioners, acceptable to regulators, and beneficial to the public with the intent of documenting those in a Manual of Practice (MOP) supported by the published report and peer-reviewed papers.
