William L. Pratt IV, P.E., LEED AP, M.ASCE

2020–2023 Region 5 Director

Vision Statement

ASCE's purpose is to help our members matter more and enable our members to make a bigger difference; and ASCE's mission is to deliver value to our members.

Based on our purpose and mission, my goal is to provide resources and support for the Student Chapters, Branches, Sections, and Technical Institutes within our region so that our members can thrive professionally and continue to be the leaders that advance our profession.

One of the biggest challenges facing ASCE is the decline in membership due to various reasons including lack of time, reduction in perceived value, confusion with engagement options, financial resources, competing professional organizations, overlooking renewal, or others. My hope is that by understanding the potential issues we can leverage our resources to show to our current and potential members the benefits of maintaining ASCE membership. Having served ASCE at the Student Chapter, Branch, Section, and committee levels, and currently at the Region level, this experience has given me a lifetime benefit of leadership and technical skills and a global reach of friends and professional peers.

I am proud to be a civil engineer and proud to be a member of ASCE. Being an active member of ASCE has positioned me to make a bigger difference and I want others to know how truly rewarding and fun ASCE membership and being actively engaged in ASCE can be. I would be honored to serve as our Region 5 Director to continue exhibiting the value to our members of being engaged in ASCE.
