Yinhai Wang Elected for the 4 Year Position on the T&DI Board of Governors
Yinhai Wang, Ph.D., M.ASCE has been elected to T&DI's Board of Governors for a 4-year term of office, effective October 1, 2016. In his first year on the Board of Governors Mr. Wang will serve as Treasurer. On October 1, 2018 he will become T&DI's President.
Dr. Wang is a Professor in transportation engineering at the University of Washington (UW). He also serves as director for Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans), USDOT University Transportation Center for Federal Region 10. He is a longtime contributor to ASCE T&DI. He was a member on the T&DI Board of Governors (BOG) from 2013 to 2015 and is currently an associate editor for two ASCE journals: Journal of Transportation Engineering and Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering. He has also been a member on the Advanced Technology Committee since 2008.
Dr. Wang is the founder and the director of the Smart Transportation Applications and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab) at the UW. Dr. Wang has conducted extensive research in transportation engineering. Over the past thirteen years science he joined the UW as a faculty member, Dr. Wang has actively involved in 71 research projects as the Principal Investigator (PI) and 21 research projects as co-PI. The funding totaled over $55 million for these projects. He has published 105 peer-reviewed journal articles, three edited books, one book chapter, and 51 peer-reviewed conference papers. To disseminate research findings, he has delivered 115 invited talks and 196 presentations or posters at national or international conferences, research institutes, and workshops. One of his papers "Can Single Loop Detectors Do the Work of Dual Loop Detectors?" won the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Journal of Transportation Engineering Best Paper Award for 2003. Dr. Wang is also very active in professional community services. He serves as members on two TRB committees: Transportation Information Systems and Technology (ABJ50) and Highway Capacity and Quality of Service (AHB40). He was president of China Overseas Transportation Association in 2010-2012.
