Matt Kirby of Michael Baker International Receives T&DI’s Outstanding Younger Member Award

The Board of Governors of T&DI are pleased to announced Matt Kirby by Matt Kirby, PE, MLE, M.ASCE. as the recipient of T&DI's 2020 Outstanding Younger Member Award. Matt serves as Project Manager at Michael Baker International, and also serves as the Chair of T&DI's Local & Student Chapters Council, which he has been instrumental in developing and leading to expand the geographic and student activities of the Institute. The award was set up to recognize the professional contributions of younger members of the Institute.
Matt Kirby is a Project Manager at Michael Baker International with over 8 years of professional experience in the transportation industry. He has been involved in the planning, design, and construction of transportation projects for a variety of clients, most notably the Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and North Carolina DOTs, Chicago Transit Authority, Metra, and Norfolk Southern. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, Michigan, and North Carolina.
Mr. Kirby is chair of the T&DI Local and Student Chapter Council. He previously served as the ASCE Illinois Section T&DI Chapter's Chair, Vice-Chair, and Communications Chair. He has also served on the IS-ASCE Board of Directors and Government Relations, Report Card, and Website Committees. He lives with his wife, Mara, in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago.
