The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is poised to lead the charge and is hosting Towards Zero Carbon: Developing a Roadmap for the Structural Engineering Profession – a workshop on July 23-24 in Boston. As part of the ASCE community, SEI is hosting a workshop that brings together experts from various fields to create strategies aimed at achieving this goal. These strategies span the entire lifecycle of structures, from material extraction and production to design, construction, and deconstruction.
The purpose of this workshop is to gather experts from diverse fields — including material extraction, production, fabrication, distribution, architectural and structural design, construction, policy, advocacy, and education — to collectively chart a roadmap towards zero embodied carbon in buildings and other structures.

- Map out a progressive pathway for the structural engineering profession to achieve zero embodied carbon, and
- Identify key initiatives for SEI to maintain its leadership role in driving these reductions over the next 25 years.
