Thomas H. Wakeman III has a doctorate in Engineering-Science (Eng.Sc.D.) He is a Fellow in PIANC (F.PIANC), Distinguished Diplomate Navigation Engineering (Dist.D.NE.) and Distinguished Diplomate Port Engineering (Dist.D.PE.) from COPRI. He is a Research Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering and the Deputy Director of the Center for Maritime Systems in the Charles Schaefer School of Engineering and Science at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey.

Previously Dr. Wakeman was employed with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 14 years and with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco and Sacramento Districts, for over 23 years. Dr. Wakeman has extensive experience in navigation engineering, port development, maritime security and resilience, and freight transportation planning.
