ASCE has honored the writing team of Benjamin Z. Dymond, Ph.D., EIT; Catherine French, Ph.D., P.E., Dist.M.ASCE; and Carol K. Shield, Ph.D., P.E., with the 2021 T.Y. Lin Award for their paper “Inelastic Shear Distribution in Prestressed Concrete Girder Bridges,” published in the ACI Structural Journal, July 2019.
The large-scale, four-girder system permitted the examination of load distribution and current linear method for determining load distribution. The multigirder experiment permitted studying the impact of diaphragms on load distribution.
The T.Y. Lin Award recognizes papers written or co-authored by members of ASCE that deal with prestressed concrete. Preference shall be given to papers written by younger authors. The American Concrete Institute and the Prestresed Concrete Institute will each be invited to nominate a single paper selected from their respective publications.
