ASCE Publications has recently aligned with two collaborative efforts aimed at combating climate change.
ASCE has joined the Climate Change Knowledge Cooperative, an initiative started by KUDOS, an organization that works with publishers and universities to help aggregate efforts around researchers to build impact for their work. This collaborative initiative was developed to help broaden the discovery and understanding of climate change research.
ASCE has selected five initial papers to contribute to the knowledge cooperative, with additional papers to be added. Summaries of the papers can be found at https://www.growkudos.com/showcase/collections/climate-change-asce.
Meanwhile, ASCE Publications also has signed up in support of the Sustainable Development Goals Publishers Compact. The participating organizations will strive to develop sustainable practices and act as champions, by publishing books and journals that will help inform, develop, and inspire action.
“I'm proud that ASCE Publications is a signatory to the UN SDG Publishers' Compact and honored to be one of 16 Higher Education Sustainability Initiatives SDG Publishers Compact Fellows working to accelerate progress toward the sustainable development goals in academic publishing,” said Dana Compton, ASCE publisher.
Among the sustainable development goals, ASCE’s civil engineering research specifically supports the SDGs regarding clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; industry, innovation, and infrastructure; sustainable cities and communities; and climate action.
