Ir Hao Jiang, CEng, F.ASCE, senior manager of construction productivity at the Construction Industry Council, the statutory body established by the Hong Kong SAR government, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction. 

Jiang, having over 15 years of research and industry experience, specializes in modular integrated construction (MiC), high-strength steel materials in Hong Kong’s construction industry, and high-productivity smart construction technologies. He has participated in and managed research projects in Hong Kong with total funding exceeding HK$20 million, and has contributed to more than 20 key infrastructure projects.

He has published and contributed to over 40 papers, articles, presentations, technical reports, guidelines, and patents in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple international and local journals.

Jiang also serves as president of the ASCE Greater China Section (2025-26). Prior to joining CIC, he was a research fellow at the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

His professional achievements have earned him several awards, including the Green Building Award, the CIC Innovation Award, the ASCE Greater China Section Outstanding Young Engineer Award, the PropTech Emerging Talent Silver Award, and the International Association of Advanced Materials Young Scientist Award Medal.

Professionally, he has served as a Council Member of IOM3 (the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining) Hong Kong Branch and as a Committee Member of the HKIE Materials Division. As well as ASCE, Jiang also holds fellowship status in several distinguished organizations, including the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Jiang is committed to community engagement and currently serves as vice president of the Hong Kong Young Scientist Association. He is also a practitioner advisor for ASCE’s international student chapters at both Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He actively participates as an entrepreneurship mentor for the Qianhai Shenzhen–Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, and maintains membership in several influential professional associations, including the Youth Federation of Chongqing, the Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists, and the Guangdong Provincial Association of Science and Technology.

Over the past decade, Jiang has supported ASCE in organizing study tours, webinars, counterpart visits, and conferences. Through these efforts, he has strengthened ties with government departments, enterprises, and key academic societies across Greater China – among them Hong Kong, Macau, and the mainland – and expanded ASCE’s influence throughout the region.

Jiang holds a master’s degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and two separate MBA degrees from Tsinghua University and Cornell University. He is a registered professional engineer (materials) in Hong Kong, as well as a corporate member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
