Reston, VA – A Special Collection of papers from the ASCE Journal of Environmental Engineering is now available and serves as a developing archive of the current thought – offered from the vantage points of individuals of exceptional stature and recognition – on the most pressing issues that the Environmental Engineering profession is facing and will likely face in the future. The Special Collection aims to balance perspectives from industry, academia, and the public health profession, all major contributors to our discipline. Invitations to contribute are extended based on nominations from the broader community.

The current papers offer insights from key researchers in the field, their team members and collaborators. Among lead authors are Janet G. Hering (Swiss Federal Institute for Aquatic Science and Technology; Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich; Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), Joan B. Rose (Michigan State University), Glen T. Daigger (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor), Nancy G. Love (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor), Cass T. Miller (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Richard G. Luthy (Stanford University), Jamie Bartram (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Peter Adriaens (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor), and Arup K. SenGupta (Lehigh University). The papers in the Collection are in a variety of formats (State-of-the-Art Reviews, Technical Papers, Forum articles) and cover a range of topics facing the environmental engineering field including big data in water sciences, safe sanitation, infrastructure services in the new economy, environmental engineering pedagogy, environmental health, and sustainable water. The collection can be found in the ASCE Library.
