Vision statement

ASCE’s vision, “Civil Engineers are global leaders, building a better quality of life,” I plan to focus my attention at the grassroots level to increase communication, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas between Sections, Region, and the Society. We can unify the membership of the Region and promote growth if we give every Section and Branch a voice. I will foster member engagement and leader development. We must educate our elected officials as Civil Engineers and serve as expert resources for our communities. Growing our membership base and engagement is critical to meeting our mission, so we must increase conversion of Student Members and attract more Younger Members. Since we have a large cohort of Life Members, establish professional linkage between Life Members and Associate Members. Many Younger engineers have not joined due to fiscal challenges and did not renew their membership dues. If a Life Member could help financially with some sponsorship and answer a voice call once a month to their protégé, we could transfer years of experience to get younger engineer’s experience. I hope to work with the rest of the Region10 Board to create best practices that can be shared throughout the Society.
