ASCE has created numerous resources for engineers and infrastructure owners to develop and track sustainable and resilient infrastructure performance. This presentation explores the society’s foundation for sustainable practices, including the Sustainability Roadmap and relevant policy statements. Educational courses, including “Making the Case for Sustainable Infrastructure” and those in the “Sustainable Infrastructure Certificate Program” will be described. Guides and manuals of practice will be presented, including the Envision rating system for sustainable infrastructure, the Sustainable Procurement for Infrastructure report, the Objective Resilience Manual of practice, and others. Attendees will be able to describe the role and responsibility of engineers in sustainable development, locate and use new resources, and apply sustainable thinking in their projects.
