Dr. Candice Piercy is a research environmental engineer with 13 years of experience and leads the Integrated Ecological Modeling team at U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, MS. Her research focus is on the simulation of feedbacks between ecological and physical processes in a variety of ecosystems including salt marshes, dunes, reefs, estuaries, and river floodplains. She also develops ecologically-informed engineering guidance the design and management of natural infrastructure systems and nature-based solutions. She received her B.S. and Ph.D in biological systems engineering from Virginia Tech and is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
