Donald Harris works in the Public Safety Communication Research (PSCR) Division at NIST and is investigating the applications of the Internet of Things for first responder applications. His team is analyzing IoT data types, system applications, and test methodologies to produce proof of concepts, best practices, and potential technologies for first responders. Study areas include smart cities, smart buildings, and personal area networks, with potentials in creating enhanced situational awareness for public safety.

Before joining NIST in 2014, Donald worked as a DoD contractor for Lockheed Martin and Dynetics where he managed and architected defense network systems to support warfighter operations.

Donald holds a BS in Telecommunication Systems Management from Murray State University and an MS in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado - Boulder.
