Edward Kavazanjian, Jr. was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2013 for his work on analysis and design of waste containment systems and on geotechnical earthquake engineering. He is widely recognized for his work on geotechnical earthquake engineering. He is co-author of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)guidance document on LRFD Seismic Analysis and Design of Transportation Geotechnical Features and Structural Foundations and is the lead instructor for the National Highway Institute Training Course on the same subject.
