Jerko Kocijan is a registered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer in California with more than 15 years of experience on geoconsulting projects worldwide. During his career he was involved as a project manager and/or technical lead on number of nearshore infrastructures and energy project, with project components ranging from aspects of site characterization, seismic hazard assessment, geotechnical foundation feasibility assessments and development of final designs. His expertise also includes advance soil-structure assessment using numerical modeling, which can provide invaluable insight into the design of waterfront structures in seismic areas. As part of the value creation approach to design, Dr. Kocijan is experienced in cost-benefit foundation system selection approach which is based on the stakeholder input, subsurface risk assessment, risk mitigation and risk management, and use of latest ground modification and ground improvement techniques.
Dr. Kocijan has received the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science in Civil - Geotechnical Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Master of Engineering in Civil - Structural Engineering from University of Zagreb, Croatia.
In addition to publishing number of technical papers, Dr. Kocijan is also a coauthor of PIANC Working Group 153 Recommendations for the Design and Assessment of Marine Oil & Petrochemical Terminals and is member of the ongoing working group to update the recommendations.
