Joseph A. Caliendo is a member of the Geotechnical Engineering Faculty at Utah State University (USU). He has over 25 years of experience in geotechnical and foundations engineering. Prior to joining the faculty at USU, Dr. Caliendo was the State Geotechnical Engineer for the FL Department of Transportation. He is the past Chairman of the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on “Foundations of Bridges and other Structures.” Dr. Caliendo is an instructor for several National Highway Institute short courses including “Design and Construction of Driven Piles Foundations” and “Drilled Shaft Inspection”. These are presented to State Highway Departments nationwide. He hosts a week long biennial workshop at Utah State which is sponsored by the Pile Driving Contractor’s Association. Geotechnical faculty from across the country attend to learn the latest developments in the design and construction of driven pile foundations.
