Mark Hallenbeck is the Director of the Washington State Transportation Center (TRAC) at the University of Washington (UW). Mark has been with TRAC for 29 years. He developed and has taught the ITS class at the UW since 1997. He has participated in design discussions concerning both the current SR 167 HOT lane operated by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the I-405 Express Toll Lane project currently being constructed. Mark’s research at TRAC involves the collection, use, summarization, and reporting of data that describe transportation system performance, and then using that information to work with the public and decision makers as they make major transportation and land use investment decisions. He is currently working with the Washington State Department of Transportation to expand their multi-modal performance reporting systems to meet the needs of growth management, system operational improvements, and MAP-21 requirements.
